Star Trek: This Mortal Coil – Episode 2: Captain on the Bridge
New Characters[]
Hyn Do'harra, Cal Phillips, Tirak
Reception Room[]
The ship's officers (and a smattering of NCOs) have been gathered at the shuttleport to welcome the captain aboard. Alderman informs Garanath that he has met Tirak, having finished his mandatory initial checkup; Garanath reminds herself to get that done.
Bowe gives the order for all present to form two lines, and Hyn Do'harra boards from the shuttleport, followed by Cal Phillips. Bowe walks the captain down the aisle between the assembled crew, and as they chat idly, Do'harra tells him that the Tesla has orders to report to Starbase 244 and join the 15th Fleet under Admiral Bruce Hendrick. Do'harra stops to talk to (among others) Garanath, whose detection of the smuggling scheme has been made known to Do'harra. He informs her and Bowe that Starbase 214's security division now has all three men in custody, and that they have confessed to trying to smuggle the weapons to the Gorn. The general consensus is that they were sufficiently discontented with their positions in one of Starfleet's least glamorous divisions that they took the immense risk in the hope of earning some money on the side.
Underweigh[]
Without much delay, Do'harra orders the Tesla's departure from Starbase 214 at maximum sustainable warp (Warp 6). The voyage is expected to take roughly a month and a half.
Adrija tends to her regular duties and continues settling in, but shortly before her shift is due to end, Kari Sandler comes into her office asking to talk. Adrija immediately notices the seriousness of her demeanor and assumes this has something to do with Kari's awareness that Adrija is a Betazoid—Adrija assumes Sandler wants advice or some form of psychiatric care. Instead, however, Sandler reveals that she lied about being half-Human/half-Vulcan on her Starfleet Academy application. She is in fact half-Romulan.
