Phase one: Before they were heroes![]
Record a short description of your character's early life, before joining the mask & tights set. Add a couple of complications stemming from this period.
Example Complications: Smallville boy, last son of Krypton, science nerd, loves Mary Jane, scion of a wealthy family, "My parents are dead!",
Phase two: Secret Origins of (Your Character)[]
Detail how your character became a super-hero. There are two parts to this: how you gained or discovered your powers, and how/why you decided to use those powers for the greater good. This is a good time to establish a secret identity, if you have one.
Example Complications: Truth & Justice, mild-mannered reporter, bitten by radioactive spider, "With great power comes great responsibility", honed to perfection, "I shall become a bat!"
Phase Three: First Appearance![]
This is your character's big debut on the super-hero scene. What kind of impression did you make in the eyes of your fellow heroes? The media? The villains?
Example Complications: hero of Metropolis, hated by Lex Luthor, enemy of the Green Goblin, "Threat or Menace?", urban legend, terror of the Gotham city underworld
Phase Four and Five: Super-hero Team-up![]
Here's the fun part. Pick another PC to team up with for phase four. Between the two of you, sketch out the details of your characters' adventure together. Then pick a different PC for phase five. You don't have to be symmetrical here. Just because Amazing Man is on your character sheet, you don't have to be on his.
These phases give you another chance to flesh out your rogues gallery, or establish a love interest.
Example Complications: in love with Lois Lane, pacifist, hates and fears Doomsday, beloved hero of New York, enemy of Doctor Octopus, protective of Aunt May, nemesis of the Joker, loves/hates Catwoman, guilty over Jason Todd's death
