Garage (3 Emplacement Points)[]
The Garage is to land-craft what the Hangar Bay is to starfighters. It may be mounted on vehicles of Gargantuan size and up. Under no circumstances may a Garage house a vehicle which is as big as a vehicle one size categories smaller than it or larger. With the GM's understanding, the Garage may possibly mount a spacecraft, however this is not it's intended function, as spacecraft are more properly stored in a hangar bay. (This caveat is here to cover the unlikely-but-possible situation evolving if a player wants to, say, engineer a tight hangar capable of deploying a small starfighter from a light freighter or similar vessel.)
A Garage may be installed on a ship of Gargantuan size or larger. It holds auxuliary craft such as landspeeders or swoop bikes. On vehicles of Colossal size or smaller, each bay contains half the Starship's Cost modifier in units of Garage Space (do not round). On vehicles of Colossal (Frigate) size or greater, each bay contains the starship's size modifier/10 units of Garage Space, and the Garage Space taken up by a carried vehicle (or possibly droid unit) is determined by it's size: Medium 0.5, Large 1, Huge 1, Gargantuan 5, Colossal, 20.
A garage is notably different from a hangar in that it cannot launch or retrieve vehicles while the ship is in motion. The vessel must be landed in order to disembark and embark vehicles - for this reason, it is very unlikely a Garage will be used on any ship of Colossal (Frigate) size or larger in order to store aircraft or spacecraft.
Garages are not Hangar Bays. They can fit more vehicles per emplacement point, because they need less support equipment! A Garage on a Light Freighter or a Shuttle, for example, consists of a working space with a few repulsorlift or hydraulic jacks and some overhead armatures or winches with which to manipulate the position of vehicles and vehicle components, a workbench and a tool locker. On a Gargantuan vehicle, it consists of a space for the pilot to clambor aboard and hit the lower-ramp button. On Colossal (Frigate) vessels and above, it is more likely to consist of a larger, more hangar-like structure, with machine shop capacity. Garages always feature some means of embarking/disembarking the vehicle(s) they contain without piloting them through the corridors. On a Gargantuan vessel, this is likely to be no more than a blister or bubble on the starfighter's underside from which the carried vehicle deploys. On a Colossal or larver vessel, it can be a ramp or a lift, or (for Garages designed only for repulsorcraft capable of at least ten meters' flight) the ceiling could winch back to allow the vehicle's egress.
