Episode Summary[]
The run starts with Doc's autodoc projecting as he is cleaning it a holographic message: "Help me, Doc MakkaNinja, you're my only hope." D'oh.
The runners are hired at the behest of a technomancer named Puchiko to retrieve a box from a shipwreck in the Pacific. The box was last seen in the upper decks of the Lucky Lady, a ship that wrecked and is being salvaged by MCT. The team gets hired onto the salvage team for the wreck by a lecherous and racist MCT executive named Sugimoto. They meet Sugimoto at an oxygen bar, where he offers pay for the crew, except for Yuna (he offers her a much worse pay scale). Yuna walks out, then walks back in and gets hired because Sugimoto apparently can't tell orks apart.
At the recovery platform, the team meets various members of the crew and scouts the location. While scouting within the wreck, the team discovers a young "Kappa", a creature similar to a merrow, except that it is bonded with a water spirit, which causes complications for our resident Miko. They discover the box, which is empty, and find out that the clan of Kappa living under the wreck have taken the contents of the box as their own property.
The team negotiates with the Kappa clan, mistakenly bringing eggs and cucumbers as a peace offering... well, it's the thought that counts. They offer to rescue the captured Kappa in exchange for the kittens. The Kappa clan agrees (after some interpretive dance by the Miko).
The contents of the box turned out to be two cute little kittens that also have technomancer abilities. The team delivers one of the kittens to Puchiko via courier, but keeps the other kitten (at Doc's house, of course).
