Sigil in the morning

Sigil in the early morning mist

Sigil is a city-plane, constructed on the inside surface of a toral plane so completely that there are almost no edges to the city, save where the sky adheres. It is said that one can go from Sigil to anywhere, as portals exist throughout the city to every part of every plane. Thus it holds the nickname, The City of Doors.

The architectural style of Sigil varies throughout, from great Dwarven strongholds to majestic Elven towers. It is divided into six wards.

Lower Ward[]

Named for its connection with the the elemental (or lower) planes, the Lower Ward is a good place to start for any adventurer looking for some fiery (or watery) action.

The Lady's Ward[]

Although Sigil's ruler, the Lady of Pain, does not reside here, the ward nonetheless proudly boasts bearing her name. It is the richest quarter.

Market Ward[]

Everything that a chap can unload, is sold off the barrel on porta... err, in the Market Ward. Buy it all, and for cheap!

Guildhall Ward[]

Music and arts, craftsmen and trade goods, the Guildhall ward has it all. It's not easy to tell where the Market Quarter ends and the Hive begins.

Clerk's Ward[]

Most of the administration and bureaucracy exist here in Clerk's Ward, as does most of the organized crime, ironically. A good place to be hidden, and a good place to be seen.

The Hive[]

The roughest and seediest part of Sigil, all but the hardiest adventurers would do well to avoid the Hive.
