Glossary[]

Becoming - The new nation of warforged that declared itself after Khyber healed the Mournland upon his release, ten years ago. Led by the Lord of Blades, the forged moved quickly to block land-grab attempts by the other nations, instead claiming the central if still-dangerous territory formerly known as Cyre as their own. Becoming has not been officially recognized by many nations, but mention has been made of them in the revised Treaty of Thronehold. They accept no trade and have only a few embassies in the Five Nations, but they do not appear belligerent to any other nation. The exception is Neo Metrol, which they harass and raid at every opportunity for reasons unknown.

blu - Short for bluchips.

Bluchips - Roughly coin-sized, blue-colored chips made from residuum that were originally introduced by the Gith. Bluchips are the primary currency for transactions involving high-magic gear and goods, such as magic potions, enchanted weapons, and wondrous items. There is no formal exchange rate to gold and precious metals, nor can bluchips be used to purchase mundane or low-magic goods such as food, airship berthing, continual flame lanterns. Vice versa, precious metals can't be used to purchase high-magic goods.

House Cannith - One of the Dragonmarked houses, typically specializing in manufacturing and magitech research. It is currently split into three factions:

  • Cannith East - Probably the smallest faction, it was originally pushed to outlying parts of civilization, many of which have since been overrun by Riedra. Currently, it is almost exclusively found in Neo Metrol.
  • Cannith South - A.K.A. "Scannith", this is the largest and most powerful faction and the de facto general manufacturer for the entire continent. They built the Final Promise, and as such are none too happy with its crew (to put it mildly).
  • Cannith West - The faction dedicated to studying the Legacy fortress. They have grown increasingly insular and secretive as they jealously guard the secrets that they have discovered.

Chatter - Fake skulls, often stylized to be nonthreatening, whose forms resonate with communication magic. Each has a bone wand bound to it, usually mounted in a hole in the crown of the skull. When one points the wand in a direction and speaks into the chatter, any other chatter within line of effect emits those words or sounds.

Ringor - One who flies on and operates an airship. Analagous to a sailor on an ocean vessel.

Singer Stones - Crystals that, when properly "tuned" to resonate with the Song of the Spheres, create a manifest zone to Syrania. Since everything flies in Syrania flies, this manifest zone makes it easier to levitate objects such as airships. With a sufficiently large and well-tuned manifest zone, it is possible to keep even a city such as Neo Metrol aloft.
