Tooth of the Great Shark is a harpoon made from the harvested remains of a sea dragon, killed by Oahan himself, and crafted by the god Kamena'ola.

Description[]

It is a shaft of a single, solid bone of an immense creature, joined with a great, barbed tooth from the same creature by a small band of Orichalcum engraved with a short prayer to the Unconquered Sun in Old Realm and studded with small pearls. On the joining is a setting for a single hearthstone. In total, the harpoon is almost 7 feet long, and the tooth's broadest point is nearly a foot. Nonetheless, it flies truly for anyone attuned to it. When it is thrown, a thick strand of Essence the pure white color of bone marrow joins it to its wielders throwing wrist, allowing it to be returned to his hand instantly.

Mechanics[]

When thrown, it is mechanically equivalent an orichalcum Vajra (Scroll of the Monk, p. 160). However, its unique construction gives it special benefits.

When the Tooth does at least one level of damage, the attuned wielder may pay one mote to have it lock in place. This allows the wielder to pull the target to him, treating it as if the target were attempting to stop the weapon's return. If the wielder loses the test involuntarily, the weapon comes out (though it may be stopped again, at which time the normal rules apply). If he wins, the target is taken into melee range, and the hold is released (giving control of the weapon back to the wielder. If the wielder loses voluntarily, he is instead pulled to the target, and the hold is released when he is within melee range. In melee, the Tooth is mechanically equivalent to an orichalcum Dire Lance.
